Brazilian SAMBA

Ladies, ladies, ladies, you’ll love Brazilian Samba!

These classes will not be on Easter Monday 22nd April

Every Monday

The Brazilian Samba music rhythm has been danced in Brazil since its inception in the late 19th century.
Samba is a solo dance that is most often danced impromptu when samba music is played.
The basic movement involves a straight body and a bending of one knee at a time. The feet move very slightly – only a few inches at a time.

In our Samba classes,  you will enjoy a great workout, especially around the torso, buttocks and legs.
High energy music makes Samba an exciting and fun dance whilst learning sexy moves.

LADIES….Always wanted to learn to dance? Try something new, the time is NOW!

We invite you to Join our Sambistas at Melbourne salsa every Monday night.
There’s no better way to start your week then shaking your booty and having fun!

Our Beginner Samba class is perfect for those wanting to learn the Brazilian dance with no prior experience, and also for experienced Samba dancers wanting to improve their basic techniques and drills.

Samba no pè is one of the most common styles of Samba danced around Australia and the world, from the famous Rio de Janeiro Brazil!

Please note: you will need to complete 2 beginner courses before you qualify for the intermediate level course.

Calling all Intermediate/Advanced Samba dancers…
…Want to improve your performance skills, be part of an upbeat positive class and have a great time?

We have just the performance course for you!

You will perform at Melbourne Salsa’s monthly event THE LATIN ROOM – St kilda on Saturday 6th July.

Bringing inspiration from her own time in Rio, Brazil last year, performing in Rio Carnival and training with some of the best in the field, Rebecca Smiley is humbled and honoured to share what she learnt from the birthplace of samba. In this 8 week course, Rebecca will lead the intermediate level performance course, pushing you to perfect your fast samba step, teach you fluid transitions and body movements, parade with grace, learn fun quick footwork and master your inner queen poses!

Bringing both the fierceness and femininity into your dance style, Rebecca’s love of creating choreography for samba is balancing the fast, sassy and strong with the soft and sensual moves of Brazil’s famous Samba no pé dance style.

This team is all about positive vibes, working hard and accountability. Team costumes will be a glitzy one piece (passista styled) leotard/dress, making you feel like a sparkling, stunning and confident woman!

Rehearsal attendance is a must, and working as a team and supporting each other is what makes this course so rewarding and fun! You will need to be avaiable to perfrom on Sat 6th July.

** Passista – comes from the Portuguese word passiar -meaning to walk. It is a solo samba dancer and one of the key members of the samba school. This title is an honour and is earned through dedicated hard work at the samba schools in Brazil.
